Watercolour & Ink

Manual elements always enrich the prints, and within manual techniques it is possible to find several options, but today we chose to approach one of the techniques we love most, watercolor and ink, a combination of PURE LOVE in addition to knowing in detail the materials used. Let's go?

This year started differently than we all expected it we have to admit, but despite everything that has happened, the production of prints and collections here hasn't stopped, after all we all have to be prepared for the “new normal ”Which will start soon and everyone is getting ready.

A few days ago we received new materials in the studio, we showed them on our instagram, if you still don't follow us, take advantage and click (here) and follow us, we have news daily. Today we want to show you our new fineliners also tell you a bit about how the experience was, and so that you can also know how the creative process of hand prints happens.

Of the materials used then, we have the ink pen set with 5 different sizes of nibs ranging from 0.1mm to 0.8mm, black and waterproof (a very important factor so that it can be painted later with the watercolor on top). Pens are super soft and even on watercolor paper that has textures they have a great slide when working with the line. It’s really worth testing, we can super recommend! Another very cool factor, and that even after painting with watercolor they don’t lose the black intensity, one more point for her!

Below images of the kit:

And our second Set of pens acquired was from the Arteza brand, very well known by watercolors and illustrators because it has an incredible range of materials, but today we're going to talk about the set of 24-color pens, with 0.4mm tip. The colors are incredible, great for finishing, although the tip of the pen is thin does not interfere with the quality of the pen slide on the watercolour paper, it has a super soft touch and fits well in the hand, which is great because the pen and well thin not only the tip but your body.

A point that I must emphasize here is that these pens aren't waterproof like the black pens of UNI, that is sad we know, but these are ideal for finishing, it can't be used before painting with watercolour. But this point is acceptable when we have various options with 24 colors to finishing of the drawings. Below is an example of an element finished with this colorful set.

Now we'll see a drawing finished with black ink pens, the first step begins with the sketch of the drawing, right after the finished sketch we start the stroke with 0.5mm ink pen, from the kit we showed above.

When the drawing is already finished with ink we start the process of coloring with watercolour according to the color palette defined previously, here we're using the watercolour palette from Winsor & Newton and brushes of the same brand numbering 4 and 6.

When the manual process is already finished, we transferred the design to the computer for treatment of the elements, and below you can see the final result of this beautiful floral that is already available with color variants in our catalog.
